Vila Pouca de Aguiar and its surroundings feature a number of remains from very ancient settlements in the Iron Age, as well as evidence of its occupation by the Romans and Medieval residents. In the town itself, the most obvious signs of its former glory are to be found in the old buildings and manor houses like Casa da Tapa.
A short drive away is Pedras Salgadas spa, situated in the heart of a luxuriant green region and still retaining much of the grandiose atmosphere of the “belle époque”, when it was particularly popular amongst the European aristocracy. Its naturally sparkling water is much sought after because of its healing properties.
Located close to the the Alvão Natural Park, Vila Pouca de Aguiar is a true paradise for nature lovers, lending itself to long walks and explorations.
